Tips for Decorating With Bedspreads

Bedspreads and quilts are perfect accent pieces that add color and character to any room in your home. Besides bright splashes of color, a quilt or bedspread as decoration adds texture and depth, compared to more traditional decorative pieces like photographs, paintings or posters. Bedspreads and quilts as decoration let you mix it up a little and do something a bit different in your home.
Beyond the bed
Of course, bedspreads and quilts look great folded at the foot of a bed, especially against white or neutral sheets and bedding. They also go a long way towards sprucing up a guest room and making it feel cozy. Using your quilt as a "throw" can add color and style to monochromatic furniture, like a leather sofa set. But beyond the more traditional uses, quilts and bedspreads can make fantastic statement pieces as wall art. This may require the addition of sturdy loops to the "top" side of your quilt or bedspread, with the loops strung carefully onto a thick dowel. The dowel is then mounted on the wall of your choice, hanging your bedspread or quilt as if it is a tapestry, evoking majestic castles and comfortable traveling inns of yesteryear.
Some of the highest quality quilts and bedspreads seem almost too beautiful to use, but remember that they are meant for use! If you choose to hang your quilt, trust a quality tailor and/or framer to help ensure your quilt or bedspread is safely suspended in a way that won't stress the seams or the fabric.
